About Me

Hey there! My name is Ben! I live in Bellingham, WA and operate Betta Botanicals out of the apartment where my partner and I currently live. I have been fascinated about the aquatic world existing inside little puddles, streams and lakes since a very young age.

I received a B.S. in Environmental Science focused in Marine Ecology, Anthropology and Environmental Education. I used this knowledge to work at our counties local Land Trust securing grant funding which protected threatened wetland habitats, the local salmon conservation non-profit in town, and the Estuarine Research Reserve here in Washington. All of the knowledge and experience I gained through those experiences has created the foundation for the ways I run my aquariums; as ecosystems!

When I am not creating content on Tiktok, Instagram, Youtube or finding cool botanicals to list on my website, I am racing my bicycles all over the country. My partner and I enjoy gardening together and growing food which he uses in tasty dishes. I can also be found working alongside the amazing staff at Cut but Crazy Socks in downtown Bellingham.
